For the Wi-Fi Thermostat program, you will receive a $10 bill credit per month (June-August) for a total of $30 a summer by enrolling and participating in this program.
On days when demand for electricity peaks, a message is sent directly to your thermostat (and mobile device in some cases) to notify you of an upcoming peak demand event.
This program works by pre-cooling your home by two degrees cooler than your regular setting approximately 90 minutes before the event starts. Once the event starts, your thermostat will set its temperature to four degrees warmer than your regular setting, which will stop your air conditioner from running during the event time. At the end of the event, your thermostat will adjust back to its regular settings.
Peak Demand Events
- Peak demand events typically occur three to four times a month. There will be no more than 15 events per year.
- Events can occur anytime between 12:00 noon and 7:00 p.m.
- Events typically last two hours, up to a maximum of four hours (not including pre-cooling).
